El Régimen Subsidiado de Seguridad Social en Salud. Un potencial instrumento efectivo de política social

The article analyzes some of the conceptual aspects upon which the Dominican Social Security reform are based. It particularly deals with the design of the "subsidized regime" in the health area, taking into consideration the only available experience up to date: that of the Health Region IV (provinces of Bahoruco, Barahona, Independencia and Pedernales), deemed the poorest in the country. The author finally points the main challenges in order to consolidate the subsidized regime.
