Dominican Republic and Haiti Commercial dynamics in Northern Dajabon and Northeast Ouanaminthe border
Abstract
This survey centers on the commercial relations in the Dajabon and Ouanaminthe binational market, starting from the assumption that this market is the main income resourse for the families who inhabit both sides of the border, plus the benefits for the local economical actors. Within this context, the study analyses the Dominican Republic-Haiti binational market in the north Dajabon border and the relations among different actors involved in this interchange, supplying information concerning the nature of this trade and the conditions in which merchandise movements take place, the binational market traders’ profile, these actors’ needs and demands, as well as the limiting factors for the Dajabon and the Ouanaminthe trading relations’ adequate development.
