The Institutionalization of Food Sovereignty: The Case of the Dominican Republic Law 589-16 about Food and Nutrition Security and Sovereignty.

This study has two main objectives, first, to examine the process in which the law 589-16 of Food and Nutrition Security and Sovereignty was legislated and second, to define the main challenges and support factors that played a role in this process. To achieve the objectives of the study, 30 close-ended interviews were conducted with 30 respondents. The collected data were analyzed statistically using SPSS software R, version 3.6.0. The results show a significant difference between the frequencies of the answers provided by the different occupations in regard to the most crucial step of the legislation of the law, and the future achievement of food sovereignty.
