Food Security and Nutrition in Times of Pandemic: The Role of the World Food Programme

This article presents the social context of the Dominican Republic in relation to the Latin American and Caribbean region and with the world in the face of the impact of the covid-19 pandemic, and analyzes the socioeconomic effects caused by inequalities in the Dominican society in times of the health crisis from a multidimensional approach, as well as several of the main programs that the Dominican State developed to face it during 2020. It incorporates the joint strategy of the World Food Programme (WFP) contributions to the Dominican Republic, implemented as part of the response to the pandemic, and shows the lessons learned from this challenge.
